Living To Serve Him

Brian and DeAnne’s ministry took a sharp turn through personal loss. Several years ago, one of their children was incarcerated with a life sentence due to a drunk driving accident. In the aftermath, the Lord opened a door and a calling to carry the light of the Gospel to prisoners of habit and heart-ache inside and outside of our jails and prisons. The Shepherd’s Door Prison Ministry is the result of this calling and passion. As time moves on, God is continuing to develop his plan for their lives.

Shepherd’s Door Prison Ministry is working together with The Urban Ministry Institute of Orange County to change the nation through training and discipleship.

Ministry has taught that the lack of access is a crippling disease that fills our city streets, jails and prisons with blight, fear and apathy. The most troubling struggle DeAnne and Brian found to be prevalent today is the reality of a great divide that exists between the ‘least likely’ and the Church. All too often they witness lives getting swallowed before they are able to successfully integrate into the life of God’s family. The grace of the Lord has provided for a way to build a bridge, a two-way street, across this divide. This is why their mission to these ‘least likely’ can be summarized as providing “Access to the Church”:

  • making the Gospel of Jesus Christ accessible,
  • making the Church accessible,
  • making mentorship, networking and training for leadership in God’s kingdom accessible
  • and making the work of ministry accessible

Brian holds a pastoral license with Christ the Victor Churches. He has also received ordination as Reverend with World Impact and Christ the Victor Churches. In his current position, he is the Pastor of Spiritual and Leadership Development at His Place Church, Westminster, California. 2020 celebrates the 5th year he has maintained stewardship of The Urban Ministry Institute of Orange County, TUMI-OC.

DeAnne is a Domestic Violence Legal Advocate and Educator. She is a graduate from Vanguard University with a Bachelors of Arts in Human Development.
